Retour

Farewell

Limbs swaying, and yielding,

Made weak by age, and pain,

Lumbered, through the fencing,

On their ordinary lane.

The halter hanged unclosed,

On bony and frail cheeks,

And her ache and grieve dozed,

On Summer’s last weeks.

Despite tenacity- Kronos took

As tribute the last untamed spark

And bewitched by his look

A proud athlete into a wreck!

With Winter a vanquished Amazon

Vanishes with the dust of decay

Into the peaceful world of shadows
