Day and Night

People and people,

All around her,

That's all she sees.

Always surrounded,

Yet somehow no one seems to see.

How alone she feels,

No one notices the darkness behind the smile.

All around and at all times,

Surrounded by people.

Nobody sees,

The tiredness behind the energy,

The unspoken words amid the chattiness,

The worry behind the carelessness.

All around and at all times,

Surrounded by people.

All everyone sees is a happy,

Carefree and talkative girl.

One who is ready to help anyone,

One who lends an ear if needed,

One who would do anything for her loved ones.

All around and at all times,

Surrounded by people.

Yet when the Night finally falls,

She looks up at the Full Moon and bright Stars.

And after what feels eons to her,

A tear rolls down her cheek and soon others follow.

At last her mask shatters,

The cheerful talkative girl is no more.

Instead there is a broken,

Silent and lonely girl.

Looking at the beautiful Full Moon and shiny Stars,

Uttering these wishful and dreadful words :

Oh! How I wish I could be up there and finally,

Finally be free...
