Black Out

Sometimes it isn't easy,

sometimes, we wish we could just black out.

Sometimes we don’t want to be ourselves,

Sometimes we don’t even know what that would be.

So, what does it mean?

“Be yourself”, they say.

But does that really mean you should just be who you truly are?

I don’t think so.

Be yourself means, be whatever we want you to be.

Be yourself means do as if you were unique,

but never, ever cross a line we wouldn’t want you to cross.

Be yourself means try to be just as perfect as every other person on Social Media.

It means be yourself if you are perfect.

It means you can be whoever you want to be, as long as you fit in.

Why do you think so many teenagers struggle?

Is it because of drugs or alcohol?

No. Drugs and alcohol are just ways these teenagers try to escape.

They want to escape from what society awaits from them.

We have so many masks, we don’t even know which one to wear anymore.

So, what if we would just black out for a moment?

Forget, what awaits us, not fearing the future, just for a few moments.

It hurts not to be perfect and it hurts not to be good enough.

I know.

But we can get through this wearing the mask

One of them.

As long as we don’t show who we truly are.

Suicide, depression and anxiety are just the side effects of the drug we are all on:

Social norm.
