Floating

In the dawn of night, everywhere coal-black, the only light source in the area was the illuminating, silver moon in the dark blue sky, giving the streets a silvery look. Out of the blue, throughout the gloomy streets, a flash of light was gleaming in one of the dark alleys for a split second, which even the beams of crescent moonlight couldn’t reach.

In the sad and void alley, an immobile body was lying on the floor, and fresh, crimson blood was gushing out of the anonymous man’s chest and splattering on the floor, forming a wine-like pool around the tall, lifeless figure.

The silhouette of the man looked alive and dead at the same time. Blood was rushing out of the man’s wound as if it were a race, but the rest of the man’s body looked motionless as if he had been there since the beginning of time.

The anonymous man looked unhygienic, with long and dusty fingernails. His clothes were torn, and the holes in his striped shirt and muddy pants looked like the holes Swiss cheese would have.

He had a long beard and a mustache that was involuntarily there, since it looked like it had not been taken care of, and was there because the man did not get a chance to shave it off. All of these characteristics suggested that the lifeless figure was a homeless man. However, the person who committed this crime was nowhere to be seen, as if he was a part of the shadows, dodging all the beams of moonlight approaching the streets.

From the lifeless figure, a soul was emerging out of the body. The translucent soul with no distinguishable features was staring at the body that it came out from. It looked as if it was trying to judge the lifeless body on the floor with a pool of dark crimson blood around it.

It seemed like the soul was trying to see the body and its time on Earth. The soul, however, was floating, nearly as motionless as the lifeless body that it was on top of, and it looked like it would be staying there forever until the end of time…
