The Street of the Castle

As I step down the bus, coming home from work
I walk down the street, where the shadows lurk
Foreigners settled - just like that
And sometimes they even cross my path
Do I have to talk to them? Oh dear
It's not anger or fear nor anything near
But if I ignore them, then they don't exist
And that's up high in my wishlist
When one walks by, I lower my eyes
I know they're not kind, what's wrong with their mind?
They're on my watch but I can't control time
The past was better, god, can you unwind?
If I could tell them anything from my mindset
It's that they're not welcome, but we haven't even met
I mean I tolerate them living next to me
So I hope they're glad, but I'm not since they're here
See, they should learn from me how to behave properly
They should be thankful that we let them come
I've never heard them speak, so they must be dumb
You'll never help this society to grow
In fact it's been downhill since you and your friends showed
All of the problems this country goes through
Well if it's not me then it must be you
Mir wëlle bleiwe wat mir sinn
So you get yourself back to your goddamn kin
Do you know what happens next? I'll build a wall
But I can't ignore all the shouts and calls
I know the government set some limits
But I read them the way that it fits
I guess I have no choice left
Anyways, it always ends with death

Doc said I was too sick to go to work
So I took the other bus to see the world
I took a step back and I inhaled
I have seen on a bigger scale
I've learned a lot - forgotten more
All the petty problems without a core
Whatever your country, tongue, skin and name
We're all different and we're all the same
Whatever your country, tongue, skin and name
We're all different and we're all the same

As I step down the bus, coming home from the world
I walk up the street, past the trees, the birks
Foreigners settled - and I like that
See, sometimes they even cross my path
Excuse me, can I talk to you my dear?
It was anger and fear and all the things near
Fueled by ignorance and I acknowledge this
To go back and stop this, that's what I wish
So next time you'll walk by, I'll say hi and smile
And if you're not kind, that's ok, I don't mind
But I am quite certain we'll be just fine
And no, this chronometer is not mine
I need to tell you, since I haven't told yet
How welcome you are, and how it's good that we met
I don't just tolerate you living next to me
I'm glad you're here, I've learned from you, see
Things I do not like, what to improve about me
And for this I thank you, you taught me a lesson
Without speaking a word, that's true wisdom
Did you know you really help economics roll?
It's a fact, the statistics show
All of the problems this place goes through
We're in this together, me and you
So let's get started, there's one way to win
They don't exist, but it would be a sin
To split countries with borders and walls
To ignore all the shouts and calls
Going beyond any of the given limits
Beyond good, evil and racist
Straight to the chest and a little to your left
Apathy is death

Doc said I was too sick to go to work
So I took the other bus to see the world
I took a step back and I inhaled
I have seen on a bigger scale
I've learned a lot - forgotten more
All the petty problems without a core
Whatever your country, tongue, skin and name
We're all different and we're all the same
I said whatever your country, tongue, skin and name
We're all different and we're all the same
